47 photos. It was cold… 5ºF down to -16ºF… I drove up to where the road is closed for the winter on the North Cascades Highway and spent 3 days at the Mazama Country Inn.
Paddle wheeling down the Willamette making a right turn and going up the Columbia to Cascade Locks is a most pleasant day long trip. http://www.portlandspirit.com/sternwheeler.php
I made a short visit on the way home from the Oregon Coast. It was pouring rain… too much for my cameras. But made a couple shots anyway. Near Multnomah Falls and Horsetail Falls.
April, 2015… Over a newly opened Chinook Pass ( quite bit of snow on top but nothing like normal), down through Yakima, Goldendale, and downriver to Cascades Locks. At Cascade Locks I boarded a paddle wheel tour boat and went bcd upstream to The Dalles, Oregon. The next morning up the hill to the Rowena Crest where there are bazilions of wildflowers… then up the river and back through Yakima to home.
I had never been to this part of Washington before. I bet a lot of Washingtonians have not… most of the cars I saw had Oregon plates.
It was just days before snow closed the roads in mid November… had just rained like heck and every waterfall was bursting…. perfect! and no people to run me off the road like summer time… except hunters… Gotta watch where they are doing there thing… They will shoot anything that moves. I am certain I look like a moose or bear or something.
