Back in July of 1977 I and my fiancé sailed and powered my 28 foot Ranger sailboat up to Princess Louisa Inlet from Lake Union in Seattle. We were gone 4 or 5 weeks maybe more? I’ll have to look that up again. I always wanted to return but never could find the time again. After the divorce in 2000 I bought a Ranger 33 sailboat…. but alas it’s old engine was just not up to the trip… Then I had a stroke and now will have to sell the boat because I can hardly run it any more…
So, because this has been on my bucket list for a long time… I paid for one of those tourist rides up to the inlet from where the road ends in Egmont, BC… making the trip at 25+ miles per hour…
It was September 2013 and the weather looked pretty bad with massive clouds, fog, and rain. But, in retrospect I liked this kind of weather better than July of 1977. 2013 was nasty. July of 1977 was perfect blue sky and warm for the whole trip except one day in Garden Bay where it rained like I had never seen before… We were soaking wet… inside the boat even. But it was 70 degrees.
So these photos are from the September 2013 trip… Nice drama in those clouds. But the real bonus was we saw waterfalls no one had seen in years… dozens of them everywhere… I will post the 1977 photos in another post when I get the Kodachrome film scanned and processed.
